Available in October for protection from influenza, or “the flu.” Getting an annual flu shot can reduce your chance of infection by 60 percent.
This shot is recommended for everyone, but specifically for those with a weakened immune system or those that work with potential carriers. Get your shot early to improve your chances of avoiding flu symptoms, missed work and costly doctor bills.
The hepatitis B immunization is a series of three shots given over a six-month period. This immunization protects against hep B, which can cause serious and permanent liver damage.
The hep B vaccine is safe for everyone and is specifically recommended for children. The shot series is only required once per lifetime.
The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis, fighting bacteria that could cause these three illnesses.
Tdap shots are recommended for anyone that has never had one, and then as a booster shot every ten years to maintain immunity.
Also referred to as a PPD skin test, this shot screens for tuberculosis bacteria in the body. Depending on your specific medical or employment requirements, the TB screening can be given as a one-step or two-step test.
The traditional method for screening tuberculosis. This requires a small injection and a follow-up visit to interpret the results accurately.
First, the forearm is injected just under the skin with a small amount of tuberculin bacteria (PPD).
Next, you must return to the clinic so the injection site can be checked by our medical staff exactly 48 to 72 hours later to determine the result.
QuantiFERON®-TB Gold Plus is a TB blood test, also known as an interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA), used to help determine whether a person has been infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB).
Unlike the traditional TB skin test (TST/PPD), QuantiFERON® requires only one visit for a blood draw and does not require you to return 48–72 hours later to have a skin reaction read. It is also not affected by prior BCG vaccination.
